Re-read the essay titled "House for the Homeless: A Place to Hang Your Hat" by Ivana Nikolic in Chapter 1 of Fieldworking. Create a Venn Diagram in your daybook to assess the similarities and differences between Nikolic's and Zollo's ("Friday Night at Iowa 80") ethnographies.

In Chapter 2 of Fieldworking, read pp. 65-103. In your daybook, complete Box 4 on page 73 with your s-l community/culture in mind.

Meet with your community partner to sign your contracts, getting permission conduct at least one observation during the week of September 17-September 23. Some of you may need to combine the preliminary meeting with anobservation period immediately following. You will share your initial fieldnotes in class next Monday, September 24.
