What does it mean to be an ECU Pirate? Do you conjure images of eye patches and swords, matey? Arrghhh!

Here at ECU, the pirate motto is "To Serve", and as part of your First-Year Composition experience, you will be following in the footsteps of many great ECU Pirates who have worked to make a difference in our communities. By participating in a research writing service-learning project, you'll be working to fill a need in a local community while learning how research and writing function in nonprofit and workplace settings. You'll gain valuable experience analyzing writing contexts (audience, purpose, and genre) as well as exploring how writing develops collaboratively through feedback and multiple revision.
